DFM, tolerances and quality
What PPAP level is normally submitted and what is included?
Answer
Share the drawing, material, annual quantity and customer-specific PPAP requirements. Balford engineering will confirm the process, control plan and submission path before tooling starts. PPAP submission levels and what Balford delivers PPAP has five submission levels. The level decides how much supporting evidence accompanies the Part Submission Warrant, and it is set by your customer, not by the supplier.

What an engineer still needs from you
- material and material condition (grade, temper)
- material thickness, plus the key diameter, height and wall thickness
- tolerances, burr direction and the visual acceptance standard
- annual volume - it decides whether tooling is single-hit, progressive or transfer
- surface finish, and any secondary machining, annealing or plating
Next step. Send the drawing for a manufacturability review, or send the part data for a process and cost route.
