With over ten years of specialized experience in manufacturing motor housings, solenoid valve housings, and sensor housings, we have focused our expertise on difficult deep drawing and precision stamping processes

Our commitment to quality is not merely a promise—it is embedded in our daily operations, guided by internationally recognized standards and a culture of continuous improvement.

Our Certifications

Our Certifications

Certifications show a supplier actually meets the industry requirements you're counting on. We've earned and kept the following, and they form the backbone of our quality management system:

ISO 9001:2015 – Balford first passed ISO 9001 certification in 2017 and has maintained it ever since for our Quality Management System (QMS). Our current certificate is No. 20225Q20703R0S, issued on 3 July 2025 and valid until 2 July 2028, covering the production of deep drawn stamping parts. It confirms that our processes meet international requirements for consistent quality, customer focus and continual improvement.

Iso 9001-balfordDownload. This certification confirms that our processes meet international requirements for consistent quality, customer focus, and continual improvement.

IATF 16949 – Balford runs its quality management system to IATF 16949 requirements, but is certified to ISO 9001:2015; we do not hold an IATF 16949 certificate and do not claim one. Working to those requirements drives defect prevention and cuts variation and waste across the supply chain, so our components hold up to the demands of automotive applications.

RoHS & REACH Compliance– All standard Balford products meet the European RoHS Directive (2015/863) and REACH requirements, with no hazardous substances above regulated limits. We supply a formal Declaration of Conformity on request.

These certifications aren't just paperwork—they're active systems that shape how we operate every day. They push us to keep tightening our management processes through teamwork, discipline, and a steady focus on improvement.

Our Quality Management System in Practice

Our Quality Management System runs on the plan-do-check-act cycle, tying together engineering, tooling, production, and inspection into one streamlined workflow.

Process Control and Production Monitoring

Our quality approach is built toprevent defectsfrom happening, not just catch them after the fact. Every production run starts with verified setup procedures and follows defined in-process checks, including:

  • Stringent Dimensional Control: Selected critical machined features can be controlled to ±0.001 mm where process, geometry, material and inspection conditions allow; the achievable tolerance is confirmed from the drawing. Internal rejection is recorded per production lot and reviewed in quality routines; no fixed rejection percentage is published . That precision comes from advanced CNC mass production methods.
  • In-Process Monitoring: We run systematic checks throughout the run to spot drift early, so we maintain consistent quality across thousands or millions of parts.
  • Documented Setup Validation: Before we release a job for full production, we validate the setup to confirm every process aligns with the print specs.
  • Calibrated Measurement Tools: All inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained to spec, so you can trust the numbers we report.

Tooling and Equipment Capability

Tooling quality drives part quality, plain and simple. Our approach to tooling and equipment is built to hold repeatable tolerances across every production run:

  • In-House Tooling Capability:We design and build a large share of our own tooling in-house, and we partner with specialized tool shops when a project calls for it. That mix lets us iterate faster on die designs and keep dimensional stability under tight control.
  • Press Line Overview:Our floor runs a range of stamping presses configured for high-speed, high-precision work—covering deep draw, progressive die, and other complex forming operations without tying up the wrong machine for the job.
  • Material Selection:We work with ductile and malleable metals across the board—aluminum, 300-series stainless, low-carbon steel, copper alloys, and more—and we pick the grade based on formability, cost, and end-use requirements, not just what's on the shelf..
  • Consistent Output:
  • We focus on controlled mass production methods that keep cost per part down and reliability up, without chasing trends. That consistency is what holds up over long runs and repeat orders. We continuously strive to reduce costs, improve product reliability, and maintain consistency through controlled mass production methods, aligning with the global trend of economic integration .
Quality Standards Across Key Industries

Our quality systems are proven in industries that don't tolerate failure. Balford components are specified in applications where precision and reliability are non-negotiable:

Automotive

For EV battery housings, solenoid valve housings, and sensor housings, our ISO 9001:2015 system, with controls aligned to IATF 16949 requirements, keeps processes aligned with automotive-grade requirements. We build in traceability, defect prevention, and long-term reliability for high-volume supply chains.

We can manufacture medical and laboratory parts, and we have produced solenoid valve housings for a US medical device programme. Balford holds no medical certification (we are not ISO 13485 certified): we ask customers to give us the opportunity on a project basis, and to keep cleanliness and precision requirements within the range a stamping and deep drawing shop can hold. Where a requirement is tighter than that, we say so before quoting.

Electronics

For connector shells, battery casings, and EMI shields, we maintain tight wall-thickness tolerances and surface quality to meet the requirements of electronic applications.

Aerospace

We can manufacture aerospace parts where the drawing suits our process, and we have supplied a housing for a Boeing programme through RBC. Balford holds no AS9100 certification and does not routinely machine titanium or nickel superalloys: we ask customers to give us the opportunity, and to keep cleanliness and precision requirements realistic for a general metal forming shop. Where they are not, we say so before quoting.

FAQ: Quality Assurance Questions

Does Balford provide certificates of compliance with every shipment?

Yes, we can issue a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) tied to the specific material lot and heat number, confirming RoHS, REACH and material specifications for the shipped parts on request.

What is Balford's defective product rate?

Balford records internal rejection per production lot and reviews it in quality routines; no fixed rejection percentage is published. What we will do is measure your critical characteristics and report the actual values rather than an average.

How does Balford ensure material traceability?

Each production batch is linked to material certificates from our approved suppliers. Our QMS maintains full traceability from raw material receipt through to finished product shipment.

Can Balford conduct third-party or custom testing?

Yes. For specific customer requirements we can arrange third-party testing (for example SGS or Bureau Veritas) at additional cost, and we run an in-house lab for the checks that verify our own processes.

Does Balford comply with additional industry standards?

We operate under ISO 9001:2015 with IATF 16949-aligned quality controls as our daily working framework, and we can provide China RoHS compliance declarations on request.

How does Balford approach continuous improvement?

We run a disciplined, stable operation and improve management through self-audits, rigorous process control and incremental innovation. The goal is to earn trust with consistent quality, fair pricing, clear communication, on-time delivery and responsive after-sales support.

Is Balford ISO 9001 certified?

Yes. Our quality management system has been ISO 9001 certified since 2017. The current certificate is No. 20225Q20703R0S, issued on 3 July 2025 and valid until 2 July 2028, covering the production of deep drawn stamping parts.

Are you IATF 16949 certified?

No, and we do not claim to be. We run our quality management system to IATF 16949 requirements and are certified to ISO 9001:2015. If your programme requires an IATF 16949 certificate, tell us at RFQ stage and we will say plainly whether we can support it.

Can you supply a PPAP package?

Yes. PPAP Level 3 is the level most customers ask for and is a standard request we support, built from the control plan and the characteristics that matter on your drawing.

Do you provide First Article Inspection reports?

Yes. First article inspection is a standard step before a production run continues, and the report records the nominal value, the tolerance and the actual measurement for each characteristic rather than a simple pass or fail.

Are your parts RoHS and REACH compliant?

Yes. Standard Balford products meet the European RoHS Directive (2015/863) and REACH requirements with no hazardous substances above the regulated limits, and we supply a signed Declaration of Conformity on request.

How do you handle a dimension that is out of tolerance?

The part goes back to the process before the production run continues, not after the batch is finished. The measurement, the nominal and the tolerance are recorded so the cause is corrected with evidence instead of by reworking parts.
