Where to start
If you already know the part name – sensor housing, end cap, motor housing, tube assembly – go straight to it below. If you have a drawing and no name for what it is, the grouping tells you which family it belongs to, and each family page lists the dimensions that decide whether it can be made: draw ratio, wall at the corner, concentricity, and the grade the duty calls for.
Housings and bodies
Parts that close a magnetic or fluid circuit and hold something inside them. The decision is usually the same: grade first, then wall, then whatever has to be concentric.
- Automotive sensor housings – the catalogue family, in stainless.
- Solenoid valve housings – where the housing is part of the magnetic circuit.
- Motor housings
- Valve bodies – machined and cold formed.
- Magnetic sleeves
- Sheet metal enclosures and server chassis
Sensor housing family
The sensor housing work divides further by what the part has to do at the sensing end:
Caps, washers and small drawn parts
- End caps – DC motor and solenoid closures, plus metal caps for injection valves.
- Metal washers
- Bushings and sleeves – drawn and machined.
- Spring cups
Tube and fluid parts
- Tube bending service – CNC mandrel bending and fabrication.
- Tube assemblies – bent and coiled tube built to drawing.
- Hydraulic manifolds
- Impellers
Sheet metal structures and handling equipment
- Sheet metal brackets
- Metal lockers and cabinets
- Wire mesh containers and storage equipment
- Carts and storage – panel trucks, cylinder trolleys, stack racks, drum dollies and the rest of that range.
How an application page is written
Each page states what the part does, which grades are chosen for it and why, what the drawing has to say before the part can be quoted, and what Balford's own means are – presses from 25 t to 350 t, draw diameter up to Ø250 mm, wall from 0.25 mm to 1.00 mm with 0.50 mm the most common figure in the housing configurations we publish, tooling designed and built in-house, and inspection in our own metrology lab. Where a page names a limit, it is the limit we actually work to.
