Metal Fabrication Calculators

Practical calculators for metal processing — material weight, stamping force, bending and deep drawing. Built by our engineers for engineers, procurement teams and hobbyists. No sign-up, works on any device.

⚙️

Cutting Speed Calculator

Calculate spindle RPM from cutting speed and tool diameter, or reverse the calculation to find surface speed from RPM. Supports SFM and m/min.

Open Calculator →
➡️

Feed Rate Calculator

Calculate feed rate from spindle RPM and feed per tooth or feed per revolution for milling, turning and drilling, in metric or imperial units.

Open Calculator →
🕳️

Tap Drill Size Calculator

Find common tap drill sizes for ISO metric coarse, UNC and UNF threads, with nominal diameter, pitch and both millimetre and inch drill sizes.

Open Calculator →
〰️

Surface Finish Calculator

Estimate theoretical turning or boring roughness Ra from feed per revolution and tool nose radius, with results in micrometres and microinches.

Open Calculator →
📏

Press Brake Tonnage Calculator

Estimate air-bending force from sheet thickness, bend length, V-die opening and tensile strength. Results include kN, metric tons and US short tons.

Open Calculator →
🏋️

Press Tonnage Calculator

Size a press from a known working force, a blanking estimate or hydraulic cylinder pressure, with unit conversion and capacity allowance.

Open Calculator →
⚖️

Metal Common Shape Cutting Gross Weight Calculator

Calculate the gross weight of steel, aluminum, stainless steel, copper, brass and other metals for plates, sheets, round/square bars and tubes. Enter dimensions and quantity to get total weight, weight per meter and per foot.

Open Calculator →
🔩

Stamping / Blanking Force Calculator

Estimate the press tonnage required for blanking, piercing and stamping operations from material thickness, shear strength and cut length.

Open Calculator →
↘️

Bend Deduction Calculator

Calculate bend deduction, bend allowance, outside setback and flat blank length from thickness, radius, angle and K-factor in metric or imperial units.

Open Calculator →
◟

Minimum Bend Radius Calculator

Compare inside bend radius with typical material-specific R/t ranges, outside radius and a suggested V-die reference.

Open Calculator →
K

K-Factor Calculator

Reverse-calculate the sheet-metal K-factor from a measured flat blank and formed flanges, or use a known K-factor to predict flat length.

Open Calculator →
📐

Bend Allowance & Bend Deduction Calculator

Compute the flat pattern length of bent sheet metal parts using bend allowance, bend deduction and K-factor for air bending and bottoming. Supports L and U shapes plus K-factor reverse calculation.

Open Calculator →
🌀

Tube Bending Unfold Calculator

Calculate the developed length of round and square tube after bending with centerline radius and bend angle inputs. Supports multi-bend sequences, material K-factors, minimum radius and thin-wall warnings.

🥫

Deep Drawing Force Calculator

Compute the drawing ratio (drawing coefficient) m = d/D, punch force F = π·C₁·d·t·σs with the C₁ table, and recommended die & punch radius (r-angle) setting for cylindrical deep drawn parts.

Open Calculator →
↩️

Springback / Overbend Calculator

Predict springback angle, the press-brake overbend setpoint and final radius using the ASM springback ratio Ks = 4x³ − 3x + 1, based on material, thickness and bend radius.

Why Use Our Fabrication Calculators?

These tools cover the calculations used when reviewing press force, machining settings, bending and deep drawing. Each page states the formula and assumptions so you can check a process or prepare a clearer question before a quotation review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — every calculator on this page is free, with no sign-up, no email required and no usage limits. We keep them as a practical resource for engineers and buyers working with metal parts.

Gross weight is the weight of the raw material before machining or fabrication — the stock you actually order and cut. Net weight subtracts holes, cutouts and machined features. For quoting and shipping, always start from the gross weight and add a small scrap allowance.

Every dimension input accepts mm, cm, m and inches, and results are shown in both kilograms and pounds. Just pick the unit next to each field and the calculator converts everything for you.

They are an excellent first estimate. For a final production quote, send your drawing to Balford at shawn@balford.net — our engineers will confirm material, tolerances and price within 24 hours.
