Invoice-fraud e-mails that swap a supplier's bank details are common in China–Europe and China–US trade. Balford never changes bank account details by e-mail alone. If a message that appears to come from us gives a different account number, a different beneficiary, or asks you to pay into a personal account, stop and confirm it on a channel you already had before the message arrived.

We quote FOB Ningbo and FOB Shanghai as standard, and can quote CIF, DDP and DAP for your destination. Both ports are available as the default loading port — we use whichever gives the better sailing schedule or freight rate for your route, and we tell you which one is in the booking before the goods leave the factory.

We work with advance payment, NET 30 and NET 60. Which one applies is agreed per order and written into the quotation and the contract — open-account terms are offered to qualified customers.

Tooling ownership is one of the few terms where the answer genuinely depends on what you want. If your quality system or your end customer requires you to own the tool, ask for it before the quotation is approved rather than after the tool is built.

Two commitments that cost a buyer the most when a supplier gets them wrong:
Any change that affects the part — material, supplier of the material, process, tooling, sub-contracted operation or inspection method — is notified to you before it takes effect, with the submission your quality system requires. You approve it, then we run it.
We sign a non-disclosure agreement before you send drawings, and we can work to your own NDA template. Drawings, models and specifications are used only to manufacture your parts and are not shown, quoted or produced for anyone else. If you want the tooling restriction in writing — exclusive use of your tooling for your parts only — it is included in the contract.
FOB Ningbo, FOB Shanghai, CIF, DDP and DAP. Both Ningbo and Shanghai are available as the loading port and we choose between them for the better schedule or rate on your route; CIF, DAP and DDP are quoted for your named destination port or address. The term used on your order is stated on the quotation and the commercial invoice.

No. Samples are free of charge. What we ask for instead is a complete drawing and the specification, so that the sample we send is one you can actually approve.
It depends on the part. Blank size, number of drawing or stamping operations, material, tolerance band and expected tool life drive the price, which is why we quote tooling as a separate line instead of a flat rate. Send a drawing with tolerances and annual volume and the tooling figure comes back with the part price.
Balford does, as standard. We do not sell commercial tooling, so the tooling charge covers material and labour only — on many programmes we also absorb part of the labour cost ourselves — and the tool stays in our die store. If your company or your end customer requires ownership of the tool, say so at quotation stage: we quote the tooling at a commercial price and ownership transfers to you on the agreed terms.
Maintenance and repair are ours for the life of the tool, on a regular servicing schedule rather than only after a failure. After production the tool is registered in the die store with permanent identification tied to your part and programme, so it is found, checked and maintained as your tool and not mixed with anything else.
Parts are guaranteed to conform to the approved sample and the agreed drawing tolerances, with first article inspection and in-process checks recorded against the control plan. Tooling is maintained on a scheduled basis so that the capability of the tool does not decay quietly between orders. Where a defect is ours, we take it to the end: sorting or rework at your site at our cost, or remanufacture at our cost if the parts cannot be salvaged.

Yes, before you send drawings. We can sign your template or provide ours, and we are used to NDAs that carry a defined term and a defined scope. Drawings and models are used only to manufacture your parts.
