Deep Drawn Metal Parts Manufacturer

October 7, 2026 · By Yu Lianbo — Tooling Design Engineer

Direct answer: Balford manufactures deep drawn metal parts - housings, cups, shells, sleeves and covers - for OEM programmes, in carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, copper and aluminium. Press capacity runs to 350 t with a maximum draw diameter of Ø250 mm, and the tooling is designed and built in our own tool room rather than subcontracted.

What counts as a deep drawn metal part

A drawn part starts as a flat blank and is formed into a hollow shape by a punch pushing the material into a die. It stops being a simple pressing and becomes a deep drawn part once the shell depth passes roughly half its diameter, because from that point the drawing ratio, blank-holder force and any redraw step decide whether the part forms at all.

Part families we produce

Each family has its own page - see deep drawn cups, drawn enclosures and aluminium housings.

Materials

Deep drawing demands formability above almost everything else. The grades we run most often are DC04 and DC05 drawing steel, SPHE, DT4 pure iron for magnetic circuits, 304 and 316L stainless, brass, copper and 1050-6061 aluminium. The selection logic for each is in the deep drawing materials guide.

Why the manufacturer matters more than the drawing

Two suppliers can quote the same drawing and deliver very different parts, because the cost and the quality both come from decisions made before the press runs: how many draws, where the anneal goes, how the strip is laid out, and how the die is maintained. Those decisions are visible in the 13 checkpoints of a top-tier die design and in the limits we publish rather than quote around.

How a deep drawn part is priced

Unit price and tooling price move independently. Unit price follows material, cycle time and volume; tooling follows station count, die size and tool steel. The drivers are set out in stamping die cost and lead time.

How to request a quotation

Send the drawing or 3D model with material grade, thickness, annual volume, tolerance class and any finish or documentation requirement. The RFQ checklist for stamped and deep drawn parts lists everything that shortens the quotation loop, or use the contact form.
